  • 1887
    The Hokkai Shimbun, later to become the Hokkaido Shimbun Press, publishes its first issue.
  • 1942
    Eleven local papers within Hokkaido merge together according to government policy, and the Hokkaido Shimbun Press is born.
  • 1950
    March 28, "Hokkaido Shimbun Evening Edition" is issued at the Headquarters, Asahikawa, and Kushiro.
  • 1952
    The morning-evening edition set system is adopted.
  • 1982
    The first issue of Doshin Sports is published.
  • 1985
    Offset cylinder printing presses are installed at every printing factory, and the use of lead is phased out.
  • 1992
    Articles are transmitted from word processors to the Internet. Digital editing officially begins.
  • 1996
    DOSHIN Website is created.
  • 2002
    All printing factories begin printing a forty-page morning paper.
  • 2006
    The Doshin Bun Bun Club is established.
  • 2010
    All printing factories begin printing sixteen color pages.
  • 2014
    For the first time in 63 years, the number of rows is changed from 15 to 12.
    The first issue of the Doshin Digital Paper is published.

    The first issue of "Doshin Children's Newspaper Manabun" is published.
  • 2021
    Contracted to organize and operate the Tokyo Olympic Marathon and Racewalking in Sapporo.
  • 2022
    "Doshin Sports" news website launches.
    80th anniversary of Hokkaido Shimbun.
    The Doshin Sports newspaper is discontinued.
  • 2023
    The news website "Hokkaido Shimbun Digital" launches.
    The children's newspaper website "Manabun Digital" starts.
    The evening edition is discontinued.
